An effective option for terraces or for service patios and roof terraces consists of installing a structure of metal profiles, It is very light and easy to place, by means of angles that are anchored to the walls or lateral fences. On them, which should be no more than 60 centimeters apart, the acrylic plates sit or, if you want, you can also place roof sheets.
Wooden structures clad with wood slats or plates are classic for their ease of installation and cost, since economical and resistant wood such as seasoned pine is used.
The idea of an economical wooden ceiling is to leave the structure exposed but in a way that it does not look so rustic. If you don’t like it, you can paint it with a neutral color, either white or cream, to blend in with the pieces. Do not forget the exterior waterproofing, it is essential.
Mudbrick is a very noble, cozy, warm, beautiful and structurally reliable material under certain circumstances. One of them is the work of vaults on roofs. The shape of the brick found on joists gives it support and strength, in addition to generating an original design and adequate management of light and climate. Needless to say, brick is one of the cheapest materials on the market for modern structures and roofs.
Like the construction of the previous point, in this case the vault has received a coat of paint to exalt the style and color of the place. It is a good decorative resource to draw attention to brick walls or tile ceilings, wood floor, or wall art, or simply to reflect the natural light coming through windows.
Leaving the apparent structure, this roof is excellent for terraces or extensive galleries of the house. It is a very simple structure with wooden beams and thin bars every 60 centimeters, with a slope of 2 or 4 slopes. Although concrete is not the cheapest material for many types of roofs, it can be considered that way as long as it is used in a monolithic structure with the indicated steel and without major finishes.
The idea is that the slab towards the interior is shown bare, leaving the apparent electrical installations by means of rails and supported cables. On the outside, it must be properly insulated and waterproofed. By not having ceilings, ducts and interior finishes you can save a good sum of money.
This slab consists of a reinforcement of steel and concrete forming a series of transverse and longitudinal beams, and the insulating material, preferably polystyrene, is placed between them. Below and laterally, wooden falsework should be placed for the enclosures and to load the slab. If you like houses with tiles, a slab of this style could serve as a base.
This cover can function on its own as a sheet structure for the ceiling or simply as a ceiling, due to the versatility of its material, design and format. It is perfect to give an industrial or contemporary touch to the home, where a series of steel bars support corrugated sheet plates of the design of your choice.
